What is the enhance-prompt skill?

The enhance-prompt skill is a SKILL.md in google-labs-code/stitch-skills. It takes a vague UI idea such as a login page, finds what is missing, injects your DESIGN.md as a required design system block, swaps vague words for UI terms, and returns a structured Stitch prompt with numbered sections.

The enhance-prompt skill rewrites a rough idea into a prompt Google Stitch can use well. It sits in the stitch-utilities plugin of the stitch-skills collection and only needs the Read and Write tools, not the Stitch MCP.

It handles two kinds of input. A broad request like make me a login page becomes a full structured prompt, and a targeted edit like add a search bar stays focused instead of being rewritten.

What changes in your agent's output

  • The agent first assesses what is missing: platform, page type, structure, visual style, colors and components.
  • If a DESIGN.md exists, it is injected into the prompt as a required design system section.
  • Vague words are replaced with UI and UX terms, and the page is organized into numbered sections.
  • Colors are written as a descriptive name, a hex value and a role.

Who the enhance-prompt skill is for

Best for

  • Short ideas that need to become a full Stitch prompt.
  • Keeping prompts consistent by reusing one DESIGN.md.
  • Feeding a prompt into the stitch-loop baton file.

Not for

  • Creating the DESIGN.md itself. Use design-md for that.
  • Running the generation loop. stitch-loop does that.
  • Prompts for non-Stitch tools, since the output format targets Stitch.
