What is the impeccable-design-polish skill?

The impeccable-design-polish skill is a SKILL.md in nexu-io/open-design for use after a web or HTML artifact exists. It runs six follow-up modes (audit, critique, polish, animate, harden and live), inspects the current page first, removes common AI tells and keeps accessibility intact.

The impeccable-design-polish skill is a follow-up pass for a web or HTML artifact that already exists. Its SKILL.md says to use it to audit, critique, polish, animate, harden and prepare the page for a live or share pass.

It does not restart the project. It inspects the current page, keeps the existing content, brand and scenario, and finishes with the artifact in a better runnable state rather than only a list of critiques.

The skill is inspired by the Impeccable project and ships in the nexu-io/open-design repository, where it declares a web prototype surface for desktop and requires a design system.

The six follow-up modes

  • Audit finds the highest impact issues in hierarchy, spacing, color, type, interaction states, responsiveness and accessibility.
  • Critique explains what feels generic, overdesigned, underdesigned or inconsistent.
  • Polish edits the artifact directly to fix the top issues while keeping the intent of the user.
  • Animate adds restrained, useful motion only where it improves feedback or storytelling.
  • Harden repairs mobile overflow, text clipping, contrast problems, missing states, broken links and fragile layout assumptions.
  • Live prepares the artifact for presentation or sharing, with final visual QA and clear next actions.

AI tells it removes

  • Purple-blue glow gradients with no product reason.
  • Generic 3-card feature rows.
  • Oversized rounded cards everywhere.
  • Empty marketing adjectives.
  • Inconsistent spacing and type scale.
  • Decorative effects that do not support comprehension.

Who the impeccable-design-polish skill is for

Best for

  • Pages an AI coding agent has already generated and that now need a designer level pass.
  • Pages about to be presented or shared that need final visual QA.
  • Layouts with mobile overflow, text clipping, contrast problems or missing states.

Not for

  • Starting a design from scratch. The skill is a post-generation pass and should not restart the project.
  • Changing brand, content or scenario. Those stay as they are unless you explicitly ask to change them.
  • Producing real image or video assets. The SKILL.md points to image and video skills when a page needs more than CSS-only decoration.
