What is StyleSeed?

StyleSeed by bitjaru is an open source design method engine for coding agents. One registered skill routes to 22 internal workflows, applies 74 craft rules, and runs a scored gate that asks for revision below 80. A STYLESEED.md lock keeps accent, radius and motion fixed across screens.

StyleSeed is an open source engine from bitjaru that turns recorded design decisions into project local rules and workflows for coding agents. The README frames the goal as repeatable expert judgment, and says plainly that a score does not replace human design acceptance.

Only one skill, styleseed, is registered. It chooses exactly one first workflow from your request, such as build, audit, tokens or motion, and never fans out to run every workflow. The 22 workflows ship inside the skill directory.

Workflows by request

  • Build or redesign: a screen, page or component goes to the build workflow, while first setup goes to setup.
  • Explore and reference: studio explores creative directions, and reference compiles a screenshot, URL, Figma export or existing UI into rules.
  • Critique and review: audit finds what is wrong with a screen, and review checks code against project design rules.
  • Score and verify: score runs code and evidence gates, and verify inspects rendered output and spacing in pixels.
  • Tokens and motion: tokens handles brand color and semantic palettes, and motion handles a named animation treatment.
  • Specialist passes: accessibility, lint, flow, copy and feedback states each have their own workflow.

What the gate checks

StyleSeed ships 74 craft rules and a scored gate from 0 to 100 that tells an installed agent to revise screens below 80 before presentation. The workflow must actually be invoked, since a markdown file alone cannot block delivery.

  • An unselected default accent, instead of a recorded color role.
  • Emoji used as UI icons.
  • The icon in a chip above every feature card.
  • An all even grid of same weight centered cards with no focal point.
  • Accidental flat black backgrounds and type sizes outside the selected scale.
  • Hardcoded hex values in components, since tokens only keeps the lock intact.

On 120 rendered benchmark cells, the README says the enforced gate improved both tested agents by 5.3 points, while raw rules alone were inconsistent. That is the maintainer's own measurement, so test it on your own project.

Your skin, key color, radius and motion are written once to STYLESEED.md, and the skills re-read it for visual work. Related: DESIGN.md, extract design system and theme factory.

Who StyleSeed is for

Best for

  • Teams whose agent output keeps drifting between screens and sessions.
  • Projects that want a recorded accent, radius and motion choice reused everywhere.
  • Anyone who wants a rendered, scored check before a screen is shown.

Not for

  • Quick one off tweaks. The setup, resolve and gate steps add process.
  • Anyone expecting a score to replace a designer's sign off. The README says it does not.
