MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It gives an AI client a standard way to call capabilities offered by another system. In this workflow, Claude is the client and UiChemy exposes WordPress-related tools. A request can become an action on the connected site rather than a suggested instruction for you to carry out.
That distinction matters when evaluating a Claude WordPress plugin. A writing assistant that generates a paragraph, a connector that creates posts, and a builder integration that edits page sections can all be described as AI for WordPress. Do not accept a fluent answer as proof of a successful connection. “I can help you build a pricing page” says nothing about whether Claude has reached your WordPress installation. An actual page title or a tool response identifying the target is much stronger evidence.
Prepare the Site and Choose the Right Claude Client

Claude Desktop and Claude Code Have Different Configuration Paths
Claude Desktop and Claude Code are separate clients. A configuration added to one should not be assumed to appear in the other. Connect Claude Desktop to UiChemy
- Generate the site connection. In WordPress, open UiChemy → Home → AI Agent (MCP), then choose Generate connection. The documented flow issues an Application Password for the connection.
- Select Claude Desktop. UiChemy shows a configuration appropriate to that client. Generate the connection before copying it so the real site values are available.
- Copy the supplied configuration. Use the Config option and the file location shown by your dashboard. Preserve any existing server entries rather than replacing the entire settings file. Keep the supplied credentials private.
- Save and restart Claude Desktop. Reopen the application so it can load the changed configuration.
- Verify a real read. Ask which UiChemy tools are available and request a small amount of site information. Compare the result with WordPress.

On the site you just identified, create one new draft page called “Connection Check.” Add a simple heading and paragraph using the supported UiChemy workflow. Do not change existing pages or global styles. Return the page ID, status and preview or edit link. If draft creation is unsupported, explain that before writing.
Open the returned item in WordPress. Confirm the title, draft status and content. Then make a small edit through the intended editor, save, and reload. You are checking whether the content can be maintained in the way you expect, not merely whether the frontend looks correct.
For a real project, replace the throwaway brief with your own content and describe the boundaries. State whether the page should reuse the site’s header and footer, which assets are approved, which content may change, and whether global styles must remain untouched. Refer to a specific page ID when editing an existing page.

A Connection, a Skill and a Conversion Are Different Things
A WordPress MCP server exposes operations. A Claude Code WordPress skill provides instructions or domain guidance. A conversion workflow takes source material and produces a particular kind of page. Installing guidance alone does not establish authenticated access, and authenticating alone does not prove that arbitrary application code can run inside WordPress.
If your project starts in Figma, use the separate Figma-to-Elementor workflow with Claude and UiChemy MCP. If it starts as Claude-generated HTML, describe that input explicitly. A React application with its own runtime, backend or dependencies needs a different assessment from a standalone HTML section.
Keep a short project record after setup: connection name, site address, client used, successful read, first draft ID, and the editor used to verify the result. Store credentials in the connection configuration, not in that record or in public screenshots. This makes a later handoff much easier to diagnose.

Do I Need a WordPress MCP Adapter as Well as UiChemy?
Follow the UiChemy-generated setup for this route. Do not install an additional adapter simply because a different tutorial uses one. Different servers expose different tools, so choose a connection by the operations your project needs.
Does Connecting Claude Automatically Publish My Pages?
A connection makes supported tools available. Ask explicitly for a draft, inspect the returned status, and review the saved page before requesting publication. Do not infer a page’s status from a conversational success message.
Is UiChemy MCP Included in the Free Version?
UiChemy’s MCP documentation says the connection is included in Free. That does not make every conversion or AI action cost-free: the setup guide notes shared UiChemy Credits for MCP conversions. Check Free vs Pro and your account’s credit information for the action you intend to run.
